The Embassy of Nepal, Abu Dhabi organized ‘An Interaction Program on Foreign Employment’ at Nassima Royal Hotel, Dubai on Friday, 01 July 2016. More than 180 participants from Non Resident Nepalese Association, NCC-UAE, Nepali Business Council-Dubai, representatives from the local companies, members of Nepalese Social and other organizations, Intellectuals and journalists were present at the program. The programs began with the national anthem and welcome speech of Mrs. Sangita Neupane, Attaché; and concluded with vote of thanks of Mr. Keshavraj Pokhrel, Attaché.
Mr. Netra Bahadur Tandan, charge d’ affairs a.i. highlighted the UAE labor laws with the latest decrees and its expected benefits to the Nepalese migrant workers. Mr. Bhesh Bahadur Karki, Counselor (labor) spoke about the Foreign Employment Act of Nepal and its different provisions whereas Mr. Krishna Aryal, Second Secretary, presented the facts-sheet of the Nepalese in different jails of the UAE, death, its causes and trends in the UAE, Nepalese in the coma, the procedure of compensation claim and the embassy’s role, and documentation procedure. Mrs. Bishnu Kumari Adhikari, Second Secretary gave detail information on passport and travel document in new context; and Mrs. Hira Kumari Yadav, Labour Attache provided the detail accounts of general labor problems and their expected solutions.
The presentation was followed by an interaction program. As the embassy organized such a program for the first time, the participants actively participated in the interaction program and exchanged their views on different expects of employments. The charge d’ affairs a.i. and other diplomats replied the queries of the participants as well. The participants expressed their gratitude towards the Embassy for letting them know the detail information on labor issues and the contribution of the embassy; and felt the need of such program in the days to come also.
