Biography (H.E. Tej Bahadur Chhetri)

 

 

H.E. Tej Bahadur Chhetri,
Ambassador of Nepal to the United Arab Emirates

 

H.E. Tej Bahadur Chhetri, Ambassador of Nepal to the United Arab Emirates, took charge of the Embassy from 28 September 2023 and presented his Letters of Credence to His Highness of the United Arab Emirates on 04 October 2023.

Before being appointed as Ambassador, Ambassador Chhetri has served as Joint-Secretary, Central Asia, West Asia and Africa Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2022-2023). Mr. Chhetri promoted to Joint Secretary in 2021 and assigned to Administration, Division. He has also worked head of the Administration Section, from 2018-19 and worked as Principal Private Secretary to Hon. Foreign Minister’s Secretariat 2018-2021. Prior that he worked as a Deputy Chief of Protocol (Ceremonial and Visits) from July 2016 to December 2017 Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Mr. Chhetri joined the Foreign Service in 1998 as Section Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as Section Officer and Under Secretary, he has been worked different Divisions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs such as West Asia & Africa, Northeast, Southeast Fareast and Pacific, Protocol Division, South Asia I, Administration and as an Under Secretary (Director) in Department of Passports.

Mr. Chhetri has served at the Embassy of Nepal, London as Minister Counsellor/Deputy Chief of Mission (2012-14) and March 2014 to June 2016 worked as a Chargé d’ Affaires a.i.. His first diplomatic posting was Embassy of Nepal, New Delhi, India as a Second Secretary and First Secretary (2002-2006) and also has served in Lhasa, Tibet, P. R. China as a Consul 2008-2010.

Mr. Chhetri has Master’s Degree in Public Administration (MPA) at the Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal. He also holds a Bachelor’s degrees in Humanities and B.Ed. in Education from Tribhuvan University.

He is married to Smt. Rita Chhetri and has two children daughter Miss Swechha Chhetri and son Ankit Chhetri.
